Despite FDA Warning Electronic Cigarettes Gaining Worldwide Acceptance

Politicians and certain special interest groups, still making weak claims concerning electronic cigarettes and esmokes. They are misleading and downplaying the benefits of electric cigarette, but a hospital in Tampa, Florida decided last week to permit the usage of electronic cigarettes within the hospital.

I, about a week or two back, had an experience at a hospital in Fredricksberg, Texas. I was observed and reported by a hospital employee for esmoking/vaping in the corridor (I was testing). The out come, not a surprise to me, was that no one had an objection to my smoking/vaping my GreenSmoke electronic cigarette in the hospital anywhere.

Smoking is a recreational privilege that is banned in many public places and I have had no problems with smoking/vaping my Electronic Cigarettes, eSmokes, E cigarette and have not encountered any problems while doing so. e Smokes, Electronic Cigarettes or eSmokes allows a smoker to get the nicotine fix just as easily as coffee or soda drinkers get their caffeine fix.

eSmokes or Electronic Cigarettes, as they are frequently referred to as, also benefited employers who allow smoking only in designated areas. The employers benefit from increased productivity. Since their employees don’t have to waste time going to an area where smoking is allowed. Electronic Cigarette esmokers don’t carry around that burnt tobacco smell…you know, that odor that’s stronger than 10 acres of fresh plowed garlic! As if that wasn’t enough, there is no second hand tobacco smoke to jeopardize anyone else s health. Altogether, it is a win win situation, the company’s bottom line improves and nobody gets exposed to unhealthy second hand smoke..indeed a plus in hard economic times.

Last July, the FDA issued a warning regarding the electric cigarette and it appears the public and medical industry just aren’t buying the story. What they have accomplished with that is, at a time when the public distrusts the government more than at any other time in history, is diminished credibility.

On the heels of that announcement, Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) in the United Kingdom released a favorable position on E-cigarettes stating; “E-cigarettes, which deliver nicotine without the harmful toxins found in tobacco smoke, are likely to be a safer alternative to smoking. In addition, electronic cigarettes reduce secondhand smoke exposure since they do not produce smoke.”

Still, the FDA continues their battle to remove what is gaining more support as a safer product from consumers. While, at the same time, ignoring a known health risk producing product currently available on the market. Maybe, there is a money trail somewhere…you think?.

Reduce Stress in Under 10 Minutes

What causes you stress? Your kids? Job? Money? Moving? Love or lack of it? Physical or emotional pain?

How much of your stress is from today, and how much is past experiences? You probably know what I mean by this, but the answer is not always easy figure out.

It’s common sense that managing and reducing stress can prevent many problems. Problems with general health, potential addiction, and more. Preventing these problems with stress management methods is much less costly and more comfortable than dealing with the results.

I know you wouldn’t choose to have problems with your blood pressure, heart, or trouble sleeping. But, ignoring your stress is very close to doing just that.

People with stress problems often look to avoid the discomfort by looking for pleasure or distraction. Things like watching TV, movies, using medications, food, smoking or other addictions.

People tend to believe traditional talk therapy and medications are the only alternatives, and try to avoid that. If you knew there was a reliable and medically tested method to relieve stress, would you consider it?

Yes, you would, if it really worked.

You’ve probably watched a movie or television to relax. Does it really help? Probably most of the time you’re watching it you feel relatively more relaxed. Something else to focus on and think about? But there really isn’t much “thinking” going on… it just helps you make a more relaxed state of mind.

Many people go through great lengths and complicated processes to achieve this state of mind. Creative visualization, meditation, yoga, deep prayer, etc…

All of these examples technically achieve a mental state of hypnosis. With a little practice, it is very easy to get this hyper focused state. Like when you’re involved in reading a book, or on the phone.

Hypnosis is a state of mind everyone goes into several times a day. Hypnotizing yourself, on purpose, is so easy to do and is so beneficial to your stress and health in general.

There are medical clinical studies in the National Library of Medicine you can research on www.pubmed.gov.

Physical and mental stress relief of over 50% is possible in under 10 minutes. Honest.

Getting help from an appropriately trained hypnotist or using a quality self-hypnosis audio to reduce general stress are perfect alternatives. They have a higher rate of long-term success than medication and hypnosis has no potential for side-effects.

Please note: Hypnosis has been approved by the American Medical Association since’58, But, it does not replace traditional medicine.

Learning to manage stress is vital to leading a healthy happy life. You are as unique as your body’s reaction to stress, everyone is different. Smoking Relieves Stress?

I’ve helped a lot of people quit smoking. While doing this, I’ve been told a lot of reasons why it is good to smoke.

I’ve been told smoking sharpens your mind, relaxes you, calms you, keeps you from yelling at the kids (or spouse), tastes good with coffee, tastes better after a meal. In short, makes you feel “better”. (I always ask “better than what”?)

You don’t believe these reasons. Not really. If you did, you wouldn’t also want to quit smoking. Right? Actually you CAN have it both ways. You can believe your reasons to smoke at the same time you don’t believe them. It is the difference between ‘knowing’ something and ‘feeling’ something.

A part of you MUST believe your reasons or you would have quit smoking by now. Now may be a good time to know there are no laws that say your reason to keep smoking has to make sense. They rarely do.

In fact, 99% of the reasons you continue can easily be proven incorrect. Maybe smoking keeps you from blowing up and yelling at your spouse because you’re mouth is full of smoke, or even better, you have to go outside to smoke.

Most of the time you KNOW the reason doesn’t make sense. That doesn’t change the craving though, does it? Just one more one more reason in your list of reasons to quit. A list that doesn’t have much chance against the well-rooted cravings to smoke.

It all comes down to two things. The belief that smoking will make you feel better and what you’re trying to feel better than. That’s it.

If you’re hungry you feel like eating. If you’re tired, you feel like sleeping. If you feel bad (stressed, over-burdened, upset, alone, whatever…) you want to feel good. And, whatever your mind has learned feels good, you feel like doing.

This is an only slightly simplified explanation of a craving. Most smokers have more than one type of craving like, the ‘first thing in the morning’ craving feels different than the ‘after lunch’ craving. But the same model applies.

So, what are you supposed to do? I can write several pages talking about this (and I have, look for them) But, it all comes down to modifying the feeling, motivation and belief involved.

First, the bad feeling needs to be helped. If it’s about stress, get it managed, if it’s a difficult situation, do what you can to take care of it or get some help. If it’s a bad feeling you get that is beyond what the situation deserves, behavior modification might be what you need.

Second, the belief that smoking makes you feel good (it is often the mistaken, and understandable, belief that smoking equals being an adult, in control, strong, capable, etc…) The fact is, smoking is some plant leaf and chemicals wrapped in paper. The good feeling you’re looking for, and sometimes experience, is created by YOU. YOU make yourself feel better when you smoke. You can make yourself feel just as good when drinking a glass of water. If, your mind believes it.

And that’s the bottom line. The bulk of the quit smoking issue is about behavior modification – changing the way you feel. That’s why the success rate of most prescription medication and nicotine replacement (like the patch and nicotine gum) alone is so low. The only current exception is Chantix and even Pfizer, the makers of Chantix, recommend behavior modification go along with the medication.

Self-Hypnosis Downloads

A hypnotic state can be obtained by simply watching TV or driving. It can also be obtained other ways but they require practice, training and time. It is very difficult to produce this state without those things on command. However it is not impossible to achieve this once you learn how to properly do it. There are many products online which offer to teach you hypnosis, however you may find it best to try a few private sessions before committing to buy expensive online programs.

Learning about your body and reaction is critical to learning hypnosis. Each of us will react differently to the state and you should be prepared for what to expect. This is one reason why a private session is recommended first. Some people feel “tingly” or like they are floating while under hypnosis. The mind may feel numb or blank while you are under. Others might not feel these things what so ever. For first timers who have not been hypnotized, you might be unsure of what you are supposed to feel which can be intimidating.

Private sessions will help you understand how your mind works through personal issues. Sometimes while under you might uncover and issue you didn’t know you had. It might be happy or traumatic and you may not know how you will react to this. Not everyone reacts or has the same experiences. Some people may relive a tragic event in their past while having a one on one session. This can be unnerving if it happens at home and you are alone. If you have a one on one session, the hypnotist is able to help you work through the issue instead of dealing with it yourself.

Progress is the ultimate result we all want. A professional will provide a plan and a tracking method so you can see hypnosis is working. Not everyone is the same and the hypnotist can formulate a program and talk with the client about their progress and if need be, change the plan. Progressing in treatment is important, if you are not seeing progress, it becomes more difficult to stay with the program.

By using both online products and individual session you can increase your progress. The CD’s DVD’s can help you learn to put yourself in a hypnotic state quickly while you are at home. This will make it easier once you start your individual session. You will also understand how it feels to be hypnotized and how your mind reacts. Once you are at your one on one session you will not be nervous about being put under making the session more useful. For the time between sessions the CD’s help clients to continue practicing and help them to maintain their progress.

Some might feel the private sessions are a waste of time and money since there are products online. While it may be true, online products are cheaper, however private sessions are invaluable for advancement and achieving results quickly. Private sessions are tailor made for each your individual progress and personality.

The best thing to do is try it out! Visit with a hypnotist in your area and talk with them about the CD’s or DVD’s you found online. Try a private session and see how you feel afterward. There are many different ways of being hypnotized and the best way all depends on you. So do your research but think about the importance of a personalized session before making the decision to not try it at all. The choice is yours, but don’t short yourself.

A Habit to Call my Own

Comfort food is something we crave when we are tired, sad, lonely, stressed or even happy. We all have our own favorite comfort food, for me it is Jack in the Box tacos. If you had this food as an adult for the first time, you would never eat it again, but still you are drawn to it. It is just not logical!

The logic is simple, you have an emotional attachment to the food you are craving. I can justify eating it because I think it will make me feel happy, content or calm, I am guessing you feel the same way. You may know it is not good for you, but subconsciously you think it will. After a while you start to believe the food will make you feel better and because our mind believes this, you do feel better, but the effect is not long lasting.

Guilt kicks in after only a few bites. However this does not stop me from eating one taco, or even my second one! I am sure you know this feeling, it is very frustrating. I know I should not be eating the oddly textured, greasy taco but I really feel like eating it. I have the same cravings, longing and urge to devour that taco, the same as you.

Inhaling the taco is a habit and the habit was learned through different ways. For me, I remember being seven or eight years old maybe. I was with my family on the way to the beach in Southern California. We were talking about Jack in the Box tacos. My mom and aunt talked about how good and greasy they are. We talked about how perfect the tacos would be to have at the beach. All of us were all happy and having a good time. It was a warm, sunny day at the beach, and we were going to play and enjoy ourselves, it would be a good day. We reached Jack in the Box and ordered the tacos, they were amazing! Some sand got into one of my tacos, but I did not care, we were having a fantastic day. Memories which are important are typically vivid and more influential than everyday random memories.

Today, just the anticipation of getting the tacos triggers good feelings which are associated with this memory. Sometimes the memory comes with it and sometimes not. It is important to understand how we relate feelings to different things in our lives, things like food, music or a voice.

Aerosmith was my favorite band of all time. I would listen to their songs over and over again, and never get sick of them. All this changed in the 90’s when I took my then girlfriend to an Aerosmith concert. Things did not get well and since then I don’t care for their music, each song reminds me of her which turns me off to their music. This is just another example of how memories can influence simple things in our lives.

I have been able to conquer my embarrassing fear of spiders, thank goodness. I managed to trace it back to a time when I was six or seven and had a run in with a black widow spider. The spider was inside of a rear window in our van. I remember the van had pin striping and the interior was tangerine orange with matching carpet. Try not to laugh too hard, it was SoCal in the 70’s. My parents were freaking out and they made my brothers and I quickly evacuate the van. Now I am able to kill spiders but if I see a big one, still gets my heart racing.

I don’t know about you, but whenever I hear a stern voice, like my wife saying, Patrick Michael Glancy, I know I have either done something wrong or need to find something to do like hide in the garage. Most people feel like a child when they hear this tone of voice. Especially when someone uses your first, middle and last name!

Enough about me, the point of all this is to show you common sense examples of learned behaviors. Emotions associated with memories trigger very powerful, behind the scenes reactions and decisions in our minds. Take a moment and think about some powerful memories you have had and think about how they might relate to other things in your life.

The Makings of a Tobacco Habit

Imagine you wanted to start a habit. A strong, automatic way of thinking and acting. How do you start a habit like this? There are three basic ways; emotions, authority figures, and repetition.

Example:

Now, let’s pick a person for our example. How about you when you were 10-14 years old. And for this example, let’s use the habit of smoking.

So when you were around that age I think we can safely assume you were learning about life and how you fit into it. If you were like most kids, you weren’t as confident about yourself as you would be later in life.

You may have felt self-conscious, dependent on others, powerless, not good enough, or just not as capable as you would have liked to feel. Let’s call this feeling “bad”. Now, this doesn’t mean you felt miserable, but, did you feel as “good” as you wanted to feel? Did you feel as “good” as you believed other people felt?

Feeling like that would lead you to wanting to feel better, or, as good as everyone else. What ways does your mind see to do this?? That matters upon what learning situations you’ve been exposed to.

How does a person learn things like that? Emotions, authority figures and repetition. You probably saw authority figures smoking – parents, family, friends, role models, and of course, advertisements. Smoking is perceived as tough, strong, independent, self-assured, and unique. All the “good” feelings you were feeling a lack of.

Your mind would develop a craving for the very thing it believes is in your best interest. The thing that will make you feel better. A craving that is a “feeling”, separate from a “knowing”.

Then at some point you tried your first cigarette, and DID feel better. But you were not very good at smoking yet and since it made you feel better, you practiced it until you were good at it.

Time passes and you continue to reinforce the emotional associations with your triggers. If you feel tired, stressed or angry, you want to smoke to get that refreshing “ahhhh” feeling.

People that have tried to quit smoking have spent a lot of time analyzing their habit, fighting themselves for control of cravings. But, you didn’t learn the smoking habit with the thinking and analyzing part of your mind, so why try to use that part of your mind to change the habit?

It is a lot easier to quit smoking with the same methods you started smoking with. A “hypnotized” state of mind combined with emotions, authority figures and repetition. Often called modern hypnosis.

Stopping smoking can be tough. Make it easier with a quit smoking hypnotherapy program from Quick Hypnosis!
